The Opportunity

This position will highlight your networking skillsets because you will actively communicate with a variety of stakeholders within the Nossi and Nashville community from students to alumni and creative professionals. You will build partnerships for the College while reporting on strategic information for Accreditation.

Who we are and what we are looking for

This job will require on-campus M-F interaction. This is NOT a remote position. Nossi College of Art follows all local and state guidelines in relation to the current COVID pandemic. We highly encourage staff members to be vaccinated.

Established in 1973, Nossi College of Art is a leading private art college in the Southeast and the only private art college in Tennessee for aspiring creative professionals. Located in Nashville, an epicenter of creativity and culture, Nossi College of Art offers associate and bachelor’s degree programs in video & film, photography, graphic design media, culinary arts, and commercial illustration.

We are currently looking for a Career Services Director who will challenge students to find their creative potential by assisting them with career preparation including mentoring and coaching students, engaging in student activities, building and maintaining an alumni network while establishing important partnerships with businesses in Middle Tennessee. You will work in a very fast-paced, deadline-driven, and fun environment with an opportunity to work with a tight-knit community.

The Career Services directly supports Nossi College of Art’s student and alumni populations while coordinating with important departments like Admissions, Marketing, and Program Department Heads. This role will be a perfect fit for someone creative, organized, resourceful, and efficient.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Manage Student Professional Development, Career placement, Internships, and Nossi All Access Projects (Project Based Internships)
  • Manage Career Services Department in areas such as: student placement files, databases and reporting
    Participate as a member of the Campus Leadership Team
  • Work as a mentor/coach for students and student-led groups to help with community projects and events (internal and external) while documenting their progress
  • Network and maintain professional relationships with the creative industry
  • Build and maintain the Nossi Alumni Network
  • Assist instructors and students during portfolio review class (may require evening hours)
  • Coordinate tri-annual Student Senior Show and Mock Interview day
  • Assist in Nossi’s Graduation (Saturday event once a year)
  • Participate in tri-annual orientation before the start of every semester
  • Manage Compliance regarding Accreditation and State graduation and placement reporting (training will be provided)
  • Manage Gainful Employment Compliance (training will be provided)
  • Manage Social Media platforms; alumni Facebook page, LinkedIn, etc
  • Assist in IPEDS reporting (training will be provided)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Excel
  • Coordinate and collaborate with offices, like marketing and admissions, to highlight alumni and student achievements

Decision-making authority

Exercising substantial decision-making authority under the broad strategic direction of the President or Vice President.

Make daily decisions relative to the implementation of communications strategies within the mission of the College, the policy direction of the President, and the budget.

Work with minimal direct supervision, consulting as needed.

Much like an account manager, you will be responsible for working with your clients (students) to help them obtain a position by building relationships with ad agencies and marketing departments, both large and small. You are selling our grads to employers and believe us, it’s much more rewarding than finding clients for your agency!

Your title as a Career Services Director (or pitch us your title) is to oversee day-to-day tasks and work closely with upper management on various projects. This individual is to have initiative and energy, be outgoing, extremely organized, able to prioritize, and demonstrate good time management.

  • Organized. You will gather information from multiple sources and locations incuding students, faculty, creative professionals, businesses, and community partners
  • Communicator. Must be a self-starter who can communicate your needs to ensure you are successful. You will work in a team-dynamic on occasion, but you must be able to work independently.
  • Energetic. You will collaborate and engage college students and alumnni in addition to Nashville’s creative community. We need you to bring energy and excitement to the team.
  • Creative. You will be helping students understand their creative process, the creative industry, and helping them find self-confidence and success in Nashville’s creative economy.
  • Go-getter. Must be a people-person who loves to interact with the Nossi and Nashville communities. Lots of networking opportunities will be available.
  • Resourceful. We want this person to be an idea generator and collaborate to help bring ideas to life.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor degree
  • Computer literacy is a MUST. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Demonstrate strong ability to organize projects, prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, provide recommendations, and effectively communicate updates to staff independently with minimal supervision.
  • Candidates must have strong relationship-building capabilities with the ability to quickly assess the needs of customers.
  • Work effectively in self-motivated environment with the desire to maximize office efficiency.
  • Communicate well, verbally and in writing, with clients, management and coworkers.
  • Must also be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work independently or as part of a team.
  • ‘Team player’ willing to provide back-up support when needed to other staff
  • Exhibit good interpersonal skills and the ability to get along well with others
  • Hours: 9am-6pm M-Thur, 9am-4pm Friday, certain evenings required to service portfolio class or senior show or to attend networking events
